What we do 

At the Heart Foundation, we are driven by our purpose – to stop all people in New Zealand dying prematurely from heart disease and enable people with heart disease to live full lives. The delivery of prevention and care and support programmes in New Zealand communities and fundraising for vital heart research describes the diverse work of our team of approximately 140 people across New Zealand. 

 

What the job involves 

The role of Events Fundraising Specialist is to deliver sustainable net income by engaging the New Zealand public in fundraising for the Heart Foundation through mass participation fundraising events and campaigns.  Reporting to the Direct Fundraising Manager, this position has the support of a direct report, the Events Fundraising Coordinator  

 

Who we are looking for / responsibilities  

To succeed in this role, you will need to combine your strategic thinking to grow event based fundraising revenue with your operational excellence in leading planning and managing fundraising events, end-to-end.  You will be an experienced Events Fundraiser within the   charity sector with a proven ability to manage critical revenue generating projects and also have the ability to co-ordinate our wonderful volunteers. 

 

You will be highly organised and an effective communicator with your external and internal stakeholders, confidently leading and delivering events, ensuring an outstanding supporter and volunteer experience.  You will be process orientated, have high energy, and a keen eye for detail, especially when it comes to collating information and conducting analysis. 

 

We need people who have 

 

  • Proven events fundraising and marketing experience (minimum 5+ years) 
  • Not for profit experience with a proven working knowledge and experience of Street Appeals 
  • Experience working with event sponsors and partners and a variety of stakeholders 
  • Excellent supporter stewardship/customer service skills 
  • Results focussed 
  • Proven project management skills and experience 
  • High level of understanding of volunteer recruitment, management and stewardship 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – oral and written communication
