At the Heart Foundation, we are driven by our purpose – to stop all people in New Zealand dying prematurely from heart disease and enable people with heart disease to live full lives. The delivery of prevention and care and support programmes in New Zealand communities and fundraising for vital heart research describes the diverse work of our team of approximately 130 people across New Zealand.

Energize has big ambitions for improving the health of children through a whole school approach. As one of our talented Energizers, you will play a key role in supporting schools in Wellington, Porirua and Kapiti to improve overall health through physical activity and nutrition. The Heart Foundation is a dynamic and supportive environment, which provides great learning and development experiences while working alongside other highly committed team members.


What you will be doing:

As an Energizer, you will support schools and school communities with a high proportion of Māori and Pasifika students in the development of physical activity and healthy eating initiatives that will encourage children to lead healthy active lifestyles.

You will be working in schools across the CCDHB area running Physical Activity and Nutrition Sessions for students and teachers. Modelling best practice fundamental movement skills and key Heart Foundation nutritional messaging to primary aged students, teachers, and school leadership teams. This is an immensely rewarding role with lots of hands-on interactions with schools. Lots of energy is essential!


Our ideal candidate will have:

  • qualifications and experience in an education or health setting
  • a readiness to be challenged and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • proven experience in planning and delivering physical activity sessions
  • a strong understanding of Māori and Pasifika cultures
  • a high level of self-motivation, with demonstrated ability of working within set guidelines
  • engaging public speaking skills
  • a valid, clean drivers’ licence.
